While experimenting with electricity, Wilhelm Röntgen discovers the X-ray.

Generators at Boulder Dam (later renamed to Hoover Dam) begin to generate electricity from the Colorado River and transmit it 266 miles to Los Angeles, California.

1941

3.22.1941

The Grand Coulee Dam in Washington, United States, begins to generate electricity.

1951

12.20.1951

The EBR-1 in Arco, Idaho becomes the first nuclear power plant to generate electricity. The electricity powered four light bulbs.
