The Council of Europe is founded following a speech by Winston Churchill at the University of Zurich.

1948

The Council of Europe is founded during the Hague Congress.

1949

5.5.1949

The Treaty of London establishes the Council of Europe in Strasbourg as the first European institution working for European integration.

5.24.1961

Cyprus enters the Council of Europe.
