A vote of the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony establishes the first college in what would become the United States, today known as Harvard University.

First Boat Race between Yale and Harvard, the first American intercollegiate athletic event. Harvard won.

Harvard School of Dental Medicine was established in Boston. It was the first dental school in the U.S.
