British airship R-38 experiences structural failure over Hull in England and crashes in the Humber estuary. Of her 49 British and American training crew, only 4 survive.

1973

6.23.1973

A fire at a house in Hull, England which kills a six year old boy is passed off as an accident; it later emerges as the first of 26 deaths by fire caused over the next seven years by arsonist Peter Dinsdale.

1979

12.4.1979

The Hastie fire in Hull, kills three schoolboys and eventually leads police to arrest Bruce George Peter Lee.
