First Balkan War: The capital city of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, is unified with Greece on the feast day of its patron Saint Demetrius. On the same day, Serbian troops captured Skopje.

King George I of Greece is assassinated in the recently liberated city of Thessaloniki.

1917

A Great Fire in Thessaloniki, Greece destroys 32% of the city leaving 70,000 individuals homeless.
